Mason SBDC: Business Counseling Services

Counseling Overview

We provide both in-person and online business counseling for small business owners who have already started a business and need technical or management assistance. This counseling is provided free of charge to existing businesses by volunteers from local law firms, accounting firms, banks, and other organizations that are supporting the local small business community.

All information shared with us by small businesses using the Center's services is considered confidential. All counselors and volunteers have signed legal agreements with the Mason SBDC stating that they will abide by our non-disclosure and conflict-of-interest policies.

Counseling Application

If you are a small business owner with an existing business seeking technical or management assistance then we welcome your request for counseling. In addition to two part-time business counselors working on staff at the Mason SBDC, we also have a very talented group of volunteers from the local business community who can assist business owners with specialized issues.

Note that existing, operational businesses get priority access to business counseling services. Individuals who are thinking about starting a business but are not yet in operation are encouraged to attend one or more of the training classes we offer on startup topics before seeking counseling at the Center. These startup seminars cover frequently asked questions about idea feasibility and business planning and provide Question & Answer time for participants to discuss common startup questions.

Counseling Feedback

After each business counseling session, we encourage you to fill out an evaluation form at the Center. We are always eager to get your feedback on SBDC services -- your ideas and suggestions are important as we continue to strive to improve and innovate.
