Mason SBDC
The Fairfax Small Business Development Center (SBDC) offers expert consultation and training to small business owners and entrepreneurs. The program is a cooperative effort of the private sector, academia, and government designed to foster economic development by providing small businesses with management and technical assistance. The Mason SBDC is located a few blocks from the Fairfax campus of George Mason University. The Center is actively engaged with Mason students, alumni, and faculty entrepreneurs, along with other non-profits, businesses, and individuals in the Mason community.

Small Business Training

We sponsor conferences, workshops, and executive education programs for businesses in the Fairfax area. A variety of business education courses are offered at the Center, both for existing and prospective small business owners. Topics include business planning, accounting, finance, legal, taxes, insurance, and marketing. Classes are taught by volunteers from the professional community and Mason Enterprise Center staff.

Business Counseling

The Mason SBDC program provides face-to-face and online business counseling for small business owners who have started a business and need assistance. This counseling is provided free of charge to existing businesses by volunteers from local law firms, CPA firms, banks, and other organizations that volunteer resources to help small business owners in the region.

Entrepreneur Resources

The Mason SBDC is just one of 29 Small Business Development Centers in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Each local SBDC helps small business owners navigate the sometimes overwhelming array of resources available from the public sector. The Mason SBDC also makes helpful referrals to trusted service providers in the private-sector who participate in the "Friends of Mason Enterprise Center" expert network.
